Position Summary
The Senior Mortgage Lock Desk Analyst is responsible for overseeing and executing complex interest rate lock activity for residential mortgage loans while serving as a subject matter expert for lock desk operations. This role plays a key part in pricing integrity, policy governance, and risk mitigation, and provides advanced support to secondary marketing and capital markets functions. The senior analyst acts as an escalation point for lock-related issues and contributes to process improvement and team mentorship.

Advanced Rate Lock Oversight
• Review, approve, and process complex rate lock requests, extensions, renegotiations, and exceptions in accordance with company policy.

• Enforce lock desk policies, pricing rules, and investor requirements with a high degree of consistency and discipline.
• Identify, assess, and escalate pricing risk, data integrity issues, and potential policy breaches.
• Partner with compliance and secondary marketing to support audit readiness and regulatory adherence.
Pricing, Market, and Capital Markets Support
• Apply and validate daily rate sheets, investor pricing, SRP adjustments, and margin controls.
• Monitor market movements and provide guidance to production on rate volatility, lock strategy, and cut-off times.
• Support hedge effectiveness through accurate, timely lock data and pipeline analytics.
Pipeline Management and Reporting
• Actively monitor the locked pipeline for expirations, fallout risk, and extension exposure.
• Produce and analyze lock desk reports, trend metrics, and exception summaries for management.
• Assist with reconciliation of lock commitments against closed, canceled, or expired loans.
Leadership and Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Serve as a senior escalation point for loan officers, processors, underwriters, and secondary marketing.
• Provide training, guidance, and mentorship to junior lock desk analysts and production staff.
• Contribute to process improvements, system enhancements, and policy updates.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, economics, or a related field, or equivalent mortgage industry experience.
• 4+ years of experience in mortgage secondary marketing, lock desk, or capital markets-related roles.
• Advanced knowledge of mortgage pricing, rate lock mechanics, and secondary market execution.
• Strong proficiency with mortgage LOS platforms (e.g., Encompass) and secondary marketing systems.
• Demonstrated ability to manage risk, exercise sound judgment, and resolve complex issues.
• Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
• Direct experience supporting hedging strategies or capital markets execution.
• Advanced Excel or data analytics skills, including pipeline and margin analysis.
• Experience across multiple lending channels (retail, correspondent, wholesale).
• Prior involvement in policy development, audits, or system implementations.
